They look similar to Wardsweb's speakers. Check out the link.

Cool! They are Wharfedale Airedale speakers. Yours look intact and original. If you remove the crossover, you will find a mid and tweet facing upwards out of the top. The inside holds a 15 and some clay tiles. Should have recessed casters in the base. They are early 60's vintage.
Are these yours?
Yep...... gotta make arrangements to pick them up though...... will post better pics when i get them....

not much info on them except for a Aussie Audiophile that has four of them and some Japanese website mentions....
when you got your cabinets, were they in 'project' form -- or did you get a chance to listen to them in original configuration? how are the drivers? I hear they should have a big red magnets.....Originally Posted by Wardsweb
When I picked mine up they had already been gutted and the drivers shipped to Korea. The guy left the cabinets behind his garage, so they were in pretty sad shape when I got them. I liked the overall shape and saw their potential. So, a year and $1000 later they are in my living room.

I would say good bass when placed in the corner and a very open airy sound, ala Bose reflecting. The mids and highs fire at the ceiling while the back of the drivers are open to the air and radiates out 360 degrees.
The airdales are not bad sounding but the foam surrounds on the tweeters do rot. They do have big alnico magnets though.
This pair dates from 1959
where do you get replacement surrounds from, or is a recone the best bet due to the driver,s age?
No cones or surrounds are available. The surrounds will have to be home made. The foam is very basic, just a thin piece of fairly open weave stuff should do.Originally Posted by louped garouv
You may be lucky and find yours are OK.
Fortunately the bass drivers don't suffer this problem.
call me lucky... the units are intact, a little of the finish is wearing thin, but all in all just a little (OK alot) dusty.....Originally Posted by andywin
real interesting design, as soon as I find my camera -- I will post pics......
what are the stock connectors on these..... how do I get a pair?
Are you talking about the "pin" connectors like these?
yes -- i know that banana plugs do not work.....
are those connectors readily available?
