After some trials and tribulations, I finally got everything the way I want it. I doubt many of you consider it high fidelity, but it sounds damn good to me.

Looking for:
L7 (Titanium Dome's thread on the Studio series made me curious)
I am relative beginner here:
My first pair was JBL 4301Bs
My second pair was JBL L46s - a review here convinced me to pull the trigger while wtach eBAY.
My third and last is JBL 36 decades.
They are beautiful in different ways. Now I just want to find replacement grills and a tweeter for the L 46s the bring them up cosmetrically.
DK
I learn from my mistakes. I can repeat them perfectly every time.
This is my first post after many years of researching/reading this site. Joined after I bought the xpl200s with stands in march of this year, several made comments, 350$ from e-bay (out of Bremmerton Wa). My jbl journey began with:
940T- still have
L7- still have
L40T3- stiil have
XPL200- of coarse- still have
Then I got a great deal on a pair of XPL140As with stands for 300$. Had them sipped via Fed Ex. Arived with boxes in poor shape. Slammed so hard that one of the woofer screws (all 4) come undone. All the ti cages come loose. End result some dings to the cabs which I can live with. Both 093 domes with dents. Have a pair of replacements diaphragms on the way. Have been a JBL fan since the first time I heard them (940Ts). Great site for the true JBL fan! Wish JBL/Harmon International paid attention to the loyalty to the customers who buy the products.
Pair 4301E MONITORS (very accurate Nearfield Monitor)
3 X 2441 COMP DRIVERS old Aluminum diaphragms
3 X 2350 HORN
3 X 1" JBL Titanium diaphragms (installed in Altec 902's)
JBL 4311B's (2) pair and searching. The bottom pair I have owned since 1979 and the top pair purchased about a year ago. Crossovers rebuilt in top pair.
I’d use three of those 4311B as LCR and look for another pair and place them on the sides for side surrounds and another pair for centre back and so. That small centre will be missing a lot of tonally detail and the timber balance would be top class with three 4311B as LCR.
You might want to build a platform to support the JBL 4311B at the same height as the tone needs to track across smoothly from one to the other. If you placed one of them at uneven height it will make mess of the sound.
To check it out step buy step I’d disconnect each LF MF and listen to the tone of the pink noise on the LCR first. There shouldn’t be any dramatic drops or increases has the pink noise cycles over LCR. Check with an RTA if anything needs minor concretion its not a big deal.
Then check the MF by disconnecting the HF listen carefully as the tone moves from LCR.
Then disconnect the MF and connect the LF up and listen! Its really best to use decent RTA to show the peaks and dips. Is the room of even shape? If at all possible try and keep the speakers L/R away from the sidewalls as that will exaggerate the bass making it boomy.
My collection-
A pair of JBL L-100’s I have had for about 8 years.
A pair of Jbl 4311b’s I have had for about a month.
Each set driven by a MAC 1900.
Right now I have 4.5 MAC 1900’s, so I just need some more JBL’s to be able to have 7.1 surround sound.
All I have is a Pair of L110 A's that are at a shop getting fixed.
My JBL collection on the front row:
JBL L100A - second owner
JBL L300A - second owner
JBL T595 - first owner (6x9's on top of the L300's, just for the picture)
JBL 4311 - second owner
JBL 2245H - first owner DIY sub - Not pictured
On the second row is a pair of Carver Platinum Mark IV speakers.
