You like to "feel" you music then Chas. Would you describe the extension as "nauseating"?

Don't feel bad... the only factory JBLs I own... or ever have owned is a pair of L100s I picked up a number of years ago. That would be the entirety of my collection.

I have had most of the drivers sold as components at one time or another though.

Fear not, esteemed sire. If you ever, only owned one pair, I could not respect the choice more.

The L100 is dead. Long live the L100!

Lets see....We supply our drummer with a dedicated bass and guitar monitor that consist's of a single JBL E-120 in a good sized wedge driven by a simple 150 watt powered mixer head so he can customize the guitar/bass ratio himself. For a single speaker it gets very loud.

For an actual Drum monitor (Mixer fed) we use a wonderful old JBL 4699B.
this is set up as a tri-amped cab (new binding posts were installed instead of the original low current 1/4 jacks), the E-155 and E-110 (lows and mids) are fed from an inexpensive Behringer EP 2500, while the built in 2425H driver is fed from one channel of an EV 7100 (about 75 watts)...this is one incredible drum monitor.

We also use (2) JBL 2425J compression drivers for our mains. Although "used" when purchased they were in very clean shape and tested perfectly. The price on one of the driver/horn set ups was $180 which at the time seemed like a great deal (with the horn included), I planned on purchasing one, having them hold the other and obtaining the second one the following week. After I plucked down my money I was suprised to hear the salesman say-"don't forget the other one"...it took a second to get it- that price was for both of them! -While I was leaving I was sure he would come running after me saying he made a mistake. That was 15 years ago, those drivers have been through all sorts of sonic hell but have never once let us down.

    My stuff is mainly components:
    2 E130
4 K145 (two need to be reconed)
    4 E140
    4 K140
    2 2425
    2 2426
    1 2226
    2 2242
    2 2202
    3 2405 (077)
    1 D130
    1 2402
    4 2118H
    2 2345 horns
    2 2370A horns
    2 2440 (need new diaphragms)
1 pair 4690 Cabaret series cabinets (anyone have any info on these?)
1 pair Jubal 65 - my dad's main home stereo speakers
1 pair Lansing 99 (S99s) (my main fronts for my surround system)
The 2202 are in cabinets with the 4560 horns and 2426 drivers
1 pair of E140's are in cabinets with the 2345 horns and 2425 drivers used in our rental system
The 2242 s should be back this week and I have to build cabs for them.
1 K140 is in a bass guitar cab.
Both E130s are in guitar cabs.
The 2118s are built into two way 8" stage monitors
I also have various vintage passive crossovers, slant plates, and an unknown JBL 2" exit 4" diaphragm horn driver. (tthe label is gone off it, perhaps a version of the 2441?)
I also have several vintage Crown amps in various condition that I am restoring to use in my home theatre (two PSA2 and two D150a amps). We also have 2 Harmon Kardon Citation 16 amps, one of which is still used for smaller low powered PA setups. The other has a dead channel in it.

If you happen to have a Sony Playstation 1 around, preferably one of the oldest models (SCPH 1001, 5001 or 5501), please try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Hey pangea,

Thanks for the advise. However, I don't have any of the Playstations you mentioned. The CD player I have it the old Phillips Interactive that didn't go over too well in the early 90's. I does what it was designed to do quite well but that just did not include producing high quality CD sound. My old late 80's Sony CD player died a few years ago and that left me with the Phillips. The Sony was substantially better and probably didn't cost as much. I got it second hand and don't know the original price. My plan is to purchase a used Classe or Krell CD player in the 600 - 800 dollar range and later when I can afford it get a new high quality hi-res unit.
    Again, thanks!!!!!!!!!

I really want to urge you to borrow, or try and find one of the earliest PS1, it wont cost you more than 10 bucks or so and give it a try, before you start spending all that money, unless of course, you really want to get rid of the money.

Pangea dude, that Playstation unit must really put out some good sound from the way your pushing it. If they're available for $10 used then I'd be a fool not to try and get one. I've done it before. Be a fool that is. I'll let you know what happens.

    Thanks for the lead!!!!!!
