Hi Tom... welcome aboard. Your thread was originally posted in the General Thread area but was moved as we reserve that area for Lansing specific topics... but we like to talk about other speakers as well , we just do it here.

Unfortunately I don't know a thing about Acousti-Craft Speakers! With luck some one will pop in here with some info.

Actually, there is a good chance that redondotom's post was on topic. Before JBL moved all cabinet production in house, they contracted with Acousti-craft to build their high end cabinets. This was mainly in the 60's. For example, the original Soverigns and Olympus's were built by Acousti-craft. In addition, Acousti-craft made their own enclosures that were marketed through dealers that were intended to accommodate JBL drivers and drivers from other suppliers such as Altec Lansing.

Good point... I believe they made the matching equipment cabinets too. Maybe Tom could show us a photo?

    Acousti-Craft?

These had no markings but were loaded with JBL's. The overall quality was very high.

    Could they be Acousti-Craft

Don is correct (as usual) about Acousti-Craft. They built some OEM enclosures for JBL and probably other manufacturers, as well as selling their own models through hi fi dealers. This was the era when audio enthusiasts often bought their components and cabinets separately, or had a dealer assemble a system for them.

My guess is that any enclosure that carries the Acousti-Craft name would have been one of their own models and not an OEM. I once had a pair of their enclosures that looked similar to the ones Glen linked to except that they were done up in Chinese modern, with shiny black lacquer finish, Oriental details and rattan grilles.

I have been told that a similar OEM arrangement existed between Altec Lansing and Hill Craft, a Los Angeles based cabinet company that was owned by John Hilliard's brother.
