I am not sure, the day we were there the weather closed in so we could not see the peaks. John tried to driver above the cloud line but the road was closed. It sure is a beautiful spot.

When I get back over there I would go later in the year and have another look, Montana is also on my list.

Ah yes, I've been there when it rolls in over a clear blue sky startlingly fast. It can become quite menacing. Those folks are used to it though I suppose. Just curious - what did you think of the sky in the Rockies? Have you ever seen a sky so blue? Nowhere in the United States have I ever seen such perfectly clear deep blue sky. I just stand there in wonder.

I've only spent roughly 36 hours in N.Y.C.

Easily the most exciting town I've ever seen.

Long Beach? Or did you guys go south?

Yes when I flew over it was clear as a bell, a very healthy place but I noticed the air was thinner up there. John goes mountain bike riding as I understand it, he must be used to the mountain air.

You know measuring drivers up there would be a pain with change in air density and temperature. Avalon are based in Denver aren't they?

Oddly the day I arrived in Denver it was 80F and the day I left it snowed driving all the way from Boulder out the the airport. My knees were knocking together all the way, it was scary and I only just made it.

Sounds like your uncle met the right gal!

Ian its that time of the day here.

Ah, we went and drove up around Fire Island and here we are at Jones Beach. I bought a coffee mug here just for kicks. I loved every moment of it.

That was of course b/n sessions in Robert's JBL bunker..one must get some fresh air ocassionally.

Speaking of fresh air prior to that I went from Denver to New England and then got a lift into Boston, picked up a hire car and drove up to Salem and stayed over at the Hawthone Hotel..a charming place.

Then the next day I made my way down via Lynn around the coast, through the tunnel bypass at Boston (are the big diggs finished yet?) and down to Cape Code and stayed over a Skaket Beach. The drive up to P town via Cape Cod Lighthouse was further than I expected..a funky place to hang around and chill out for a bit.

I then went back up to Boston for the tourist thing and stayed at the Buckmaster hotel. Plenty of great clubs around the West End and heard some live jazz....Boston is very much like Melbourne back home here.

Travelling over there is probably one of the best things I ever did and I would'nt have done it the way I did without this forum and you guys!

But where I am really coming from here is you have such a diversity of culture in the U.S.A and to be bought all together here on the Forums over a common interest or passion is very cool.

Its not surprising therefore some of us see things a little differently around here. Ya don't say.....
