    4313B upgrade

I am pleased to be the winner of this eBay auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ADME:B:WN:US:1

My Florida room system includes a pair of 4313B monitors; the left speaker's
066 tweeter very occassionally will exhibit what I believe to be an "open"
diaphram (tweeter will stop working, and increasing the volume momentarily will revive it). In addition, this tweeter has some very small dents in the dome (it was badly dented when I got it but I was able to pull out the dent fairly well, but not perfect). This one looks pretty nice, the close up shows some black spots in the machined aluminum face but I can clean these up.

This should bring my 4313B's one step closer to "mint". Next I'll be looking for a replacement 066 for the right speaker-that one works fine but the dome looks like someone tried to clean it at one time and removed some of the shiny silver finish. Once I get that one replaced, these babies will be as close to "like new" as you can get!

My JBL speaker repair center (Tampa) listed the diaphram kit for $125 two years ago, so I think I did okay on this...provided it works okay of course!

    Whattaya think guys?

I've bought from "uncle-papa" before. Should be a seamless transaction.

Do post some pics of those 4313B's (from a loving fan...)!

    Thanks guys...

....it seemed like I did okay on this. I will certainly post some pics shortly on these systems. I like the 4313B's very much, they are perfect in the smaller room that they reside in. And yes, the 066 itself is a very nice unit.

Also glad to hear that one of you has had previous dealings with the seller and had no problems; his feedback looked okay but I don't mind hearing it from you guys firsthand!

    Best regards,

    Peter

How come everything that weighs say under 200lb is called "little?"

Geesh, if you took a 4313B and put it on top of most speakers in most houses, you'd crush them under the sheer weight of the cabinet!

Then again, EVERY thread here that talks about the "small" monitors ends up on the other end of the spectrum.

actualy a 4313B is about the size of an L-100. Just weighs a bit more.....about 50lbs.

Yes they are a nice monitor!

Yes, I really like the 4313's too...and they are quite heavy for their size...a testament to how well made they are.

I received a nice note from Uncle-Papa last night...expects to ship the 066 tweeter today...

No sooner than you can say Uncle Papa....

....then the 066 tweeter from Uncle Papa arrives! I installed it in my left 4313B, and it works great! It's in pretty nice shape. Here are the "before" and "after" pics. The old tweeter was very seriously dented when I bought the systems...this was as best as was able to pull the dent out at the time, leaving a series of 5 smaller dents. I suspect (and hope actually) that this was why this tweeter would occassionally stop playing, due to diaphragm damage. So far the new tweeter plays great. In my next post, I'll post photos of this system that features the 4313B's.

    Best regards to all,

    Peter M.
