    Early version L-100's

I never seem to see any tweeters on e-bay etc for these "Find" speakers I have. Are they hard to come by? I want to refinish the cabinets, But How do I unstick these and remove them without hurting the cabinets. If need be can they be reconed? Thanks Bill

    LE 20 or 25?

I can't remember if the L100 ever came with LE20's or not, if that's what you're talking about. If they have LE25's, I see tons of those and you could probably post in the Market place for a pair too. As far as unsticking them, Use some 2" BLUE masking on the baffle to protect it and slide a putty knife between the baffle and the tweeter and gently pry or remove a woofer and push it out from the inside of the enclosure or both.

An LE 25 will not fit because the mid-range LE52 hole is too close to the tweeter hole. Theses tweeters are round with no foam. The LE25 square mounting will hit the other speaker. LE120-1 available? reconable? Thanks very much for your reply. Bill P.S. tried everything but a pipe wrench.

They are LE20-1's. I think GordonW has a few. The diaphragm kits are also available and are expensive. You can also use LE20's, just pull the LE20-1's out of the big aluminum LE20 frames.

    Question for Giskard

Why are the recone kits for the Le-20's and Le-25's so damn expensive?

You could almost find working used ones for less money.

You can buy a used '57 Chevy for much less than having Chevrolet build you a replacement engine today too.

It isn't that the LE20 and LE25 recone kits are so expensive but rather all the newer stuff is cheaper. Advances in manufacturing. All those nice ladies who wound all those voice coils by hand don't exist anymore.

They still exist. They are simply unemployed and no longer looking for work. To the economists they no longer exist, but in reality they are still with us.

Well, last I heard China had several billion competitors for those jobs.

I guess IBM gets to sell their PC business to a company in China. That should be neato.

I think we should eBay the whole country and everything in it. It's done...

Now that would be smart. Instead we are just giving it away.

We already gave it away, to Japan and Taiwan, who gave it away to Korea, who gave it away to Malaysia, who now sees it going to China.
