Exclamation Need some advice for a 115H-1

First off: This is my first post. Great wealth of information here. TO be honest, I only discovered this site last week. Anway- thanks. I'll do my best to add to the quality already present.

Anyway- I've got a couple of pairs of 4406's in service and I recently got a hold of another. One of the 115H-1's has some resonance in it- sounds as if the voice coil was lifted/overdriven. Not sure if it is fixable, and since no kits are available, I may never know.

JBL Pro's techs offered up their "closest" replacement- which I was told was the 6" that's in the 4206... it's a 506G-2S stamped alum something or other... That's impossible right? This driver doesn't look anything like the 115H-1... and it's a different size, has a different range... but maybe I'm missing something.

Advice? HELP? Anyone with a 115H-1? Anyone that want's to offer up some help in diagnosing the failing 115H-1 would be much appreciated.

    Start calling recone centers.

Several of us bought up a few of the 115H-1 kits that appeared on eBay awhile back. Another might show up at some point.

In addition to the 4406, be aware that the 115H-1 was also used in the 18Ti, L20T, L20t3, XPL200, and XPL200A.

I may be able to "non-destructively" disassemble the driver, and repair the cone assembly. Been able to do this for a number of other drivers with "irreplaceable" cones... recover the original cone, but replace the voice coil and spider.

    PM me...

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Follow up... still looking, but some interesting observations.

Follow-up: Learned from JBL that the 506G-2S is based on the 115H-1, but with a shield on the magnet and an aquaplas cone instead of the polyfil.

Catch: The circum of the frame mount holes is 5mm too small though, so the 506G-2S simply doesn't fit. Otherwise, it specs out as nearly identical according to JBL's computers. There should now be a note that it doesn't really fit- thanks to a little trial and error.

I guess if you wanted to DIY a small monitor or are looking for a current production mid , the 506G-2S might be a slightly less expensive option than the Performance 6.5 driver...
