2214 drivers

I have a real nice pair of 2214H speakers that I am itching to box up and bother the neighbors with. I am wondering what JBL product lines used these drivers. I am looking for ideas about tuning and I thought I would start with OEM application.

Interesting enough that I don't see many posts about these drivers. They sure do move a lot of air.

L100t,t3 XPL-200, 4425 all very nice spaekers. Download a shareware speaker program and try it out. Figure 2.5-4 cubic ft. Got a pair in 2.2Cu tuned low 29Hz and with room gain they kick.

4425 used these drivers!!!!!!!

I think they will make EXCELLENT mains for my HT

and Trutone hearing aids for when I get older. Would I have a pair of repro L100t3 speakers or what.

If you want the "L100T/L100T3 sound", use the 104H2 or 104H3 midranges instead of the 2105. Much better behaved on the top end (less rising response, easier to cross over). The 104H2 used in the L100T was a big improvement over the earlier mids, IMHO.

As far as box is concerned, using a 2214 in a L150-style passive radiator box (about 2.2 to 2.75 cubic feet with a PR) seems to be the "killer app" as far as this woofer is concerned. Though, I'd be inclined to use a HIGHER EXCURSION passive radiator, than a PR300... like a foam-edge JBL PR15 or a more modern PR such as the Adire PR15, Peerless XLS passive radiator, Parts Express Dayton DVC-series PRs, or similar. No point in using a PR that's going to run out before the driver!

Well I will probably go with the 2105s because I have a pair. The coutouts are probably the same, I could swap them out some day. I am not afraid of crossover work, I am pretty versed in getting them right.
