    Altec Lansing 511-E Horn

Does anny one know anything about this horn. It's wider than the 511-B.
What is the Driver size fitting :Large or small.

If it's a 1.1/4" throat . Then more applications can be found for the A-7 .

    .................................................. .............................

I found the answer it's for 1.1/4" drivers. Now why is it not proposed for the A-7 .The cabinet is big enough for a large driver. It's just common sense. Such as the 288-16G.

I think it was determined that the dimensions of the 511E are in error in the old catalogs. It should be the same H and W as the 511B, but a tad shorter and with the 1.4" 3-bolt flange. I think they were externally aquaplassed too, like the 311s, which could also be used on A7s. Actually, anytime a large format horn and driver is used on an A7, it effectively becomes an A5 (but you knew that).

    Hi every one,

I think we hit the jack pot. A-7 with 511-E horns. This combination would
be perfect today for DJ's ,Night clubs, Disco, Small lounges, very small theatres, Dubbing facilities in Hollywood instead of the ATC.I do not wan't to put down the ATC just Look at their specs.

Maybe try 2435HPL Be drivers on reamed-out 511Es?

    Is there a 1.4" MantaRay?

'Cause 511B beamwidth collapses above 10 kHz, both horizontal and vertical:

Edit: Compare to 2352 and 2380, bottom....

    Here's most of the 1.4" Mantarays;

    http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...ro/1989-09.jpg

The later-model A5s traded in their multi-cells for Mantarays, so it's already been done. Due to the greater sensitivity mismatch than 1" A7s, MR-equipped A5s were best suited for longer throw apps, where HF loss over distance became noticeable. Even with a 105dB 515 in the cab, attenuation of the HF is usually required. The 1.4"s fall a little shy of the 1"s in the last octave too, even with EQ.

    Just right for 4-ways though.......

    Thanks, Moldy!

They're definitely "Old School" multi-flare in design.

    Two-ways gettin' revitalized of late....
