OTOH, why do we have to run the HF output through the active xover, just for the sake of the highpass for the 3107? Curious what would happen if we skipped the active xover for the MF/HF section and ran it directly from the amp.

Ah, I was referring to the 4350, factory set up.

The main benefit is bi amp of the 4350. You could tri amp with the compression driver operating from a third power amplifier and a passive network handling the crossover to the 2405. I doubt any benefit in a quad amp setup although Greg Timbers said the 2405 preference direct amplifier connection.

I understand, my experience is that these woofers don't sound as good as they can when passive filtered. However, I was referring to as to why route the MF/HF through the active crossover first, is it only for the highpass for the 3107?
