    Another One Bites the Dust

Well I lost a second PS 1400 subwoofer amp! That's two! Thankfully the drivers in both survived so I have a spare pair of Le-14H-3.

The second one had been refurbished to fix the issue and the last one I have has also been "fixed" so I have one more left.

Got the pair when JBL did a warehouse sale years ago for less than a pair of Le-14 drivers with free shipping.

Lets see how long this one lasts!!

So what's the deal??? Why does JBL seem to have an issue with subwoofer amps??

I have Polk's that have out lasted both of these subs???!!!!

Seems the PS-1400 was very prone to an amp failure, and that IMO really turned people away from that otherwise stellar system.

It's not just PS-1400 amps. Many Harman branded powered speakers and subs have electronics that fail prematurely.

This is probably why while JBL's pro audio competition like Genelec and Meyer build reliable self powered monitors, JBL is using outboard Crown amps for the M2.

My Array 1500 subs have been powered by a K2 for years now.

Their amps were damaged by failed capacitors and not just in the power supply. Just plain cheap junk.

They should have had Urei make amps for them or put in their 6260 amp section
