I have a friend who wants to built a three way speaker with horns. The speaker I built uses a JBL 2235H woofer, Altec 802-8G on a 511B horn and JBL 077 tweeter.Rather than try and duplicate mine, he would like to build something of his own in a similar design. Besides the Altec setup for the mids, what recommendations do you have for vintage or newer mid horn?
How about the Yuichi wooden horns? Either DIY or purchase them... there are quite a few out there. I would probably go for the larger version.

I am planning to evolve my 300 Hz Ellipse-Trax horns that I acquired here from user Dkalsi many moons ago, to the large Yuichi 290 Hz horns in the not to distant future. I have some SolidWorks CAD data that I have gotten to a point that they can be routed / milled, if this would be of any assistance? We could also try to collaborate on the routing / milling effort if timing and cost is beneficial?

No love for Smith horns? I have no experience with the Yuichi horns, tho they do look very intriguing ...
I've had 2 sets of speakers using 2 different sets of custom walnut smith horns, in demo mode on these Valencias ...
I had a similar set for mid-horns with my old L200 system. The walnut grain makes quite a visual statement, and
I like how the human voice and horns sound in these wooden horns.

I do have the fins for the Smith Horn already, and will build them if the Big Uns don't blow me away. It is purely an esthetic thing as I just think they look better in the stack.
