    2130 vs D/K/E 120

Can anyone tell me what, if any difference, there is between the 12" 2130 and the 12" D/K/E120?

They are all quite similar and intended for the same uses--extended range audio, distributed sound for speech, and musical instrument speakers. The 2130 is Alnico, is contemporaneous with and has the same "software" as the K, so it will play and sound exactly like the K. The D would be earlier, might have a slightly different surround depending on the age, and would have less power handling capacity. The E is ferrite and may have a slightly more intense magnetic field, not sure.

Forum member "edgewound" (Ken at Upland Speaker) would know where I've made any mistakes. You can send a private message to him here, and he has a Facebook page.

The 2130 is functionally identical to the K120. The motors have a different casting profile, but other than that the speakers are identical and interchangeable. The D120F has the same motor and frame. The later evolution E120 has a more powerful ceramic motor.

    D120F/K120/2130/E120 are all dimensionally identical.

In addition...The orange frame/black motor Fender D120F is actually a K120 in different clothes.

Thanks all. I suspected this was the answer. Was just curious, as there is a pair on Facebook marketplace for $300 CAD.
