I found all the sizes of the JBL 2311 horn and also who is able to "print" the horns in ABS in 3D. Measuring the JBL 2445j driver which is claimed to be a two inch, it actually has a mouth of less than 50.8mm / 2 ", around 49mm. Since I'm remaking the horns, I have to do the throat 50.8mm / 2" or lower?

The prototype is finished, I have to mount the speakers, test it and build the crossover

    Giuseppe,

It doesn't appear to have one, but have you thought about adding a front panel to back panel brace? I know its a test box but still that cabinet is pretty large. When you'll test at higher power panels may resonate coloring sound.

Such brace would be in the middle of the "triangle" formed by the two woofers and low-mid. Typically a piece of 2X3" or even a 2X2" is still better than nothing. Don't see all inside but seems to be pieces of 1X2"? In absence of the larger pieces mentioned you can glue and screw together two pieces of 1X2" and get a 2X2".

Having many holes in a baffle reduces its rigidity and the front to back brace helps for this issue. When a test box is well made it might become a final box with the addition of finish, saving time and material.

    Wow.

    What a great project.

I think you’ve had a number of great perspectives on how to proceed.

As everyone has said see how it goes. If you need some bass boost or a bit of extension you can run your own simulations and discuss with those here for feedback and try that if necessary.

Richards comment on prototype boxes are correct in that they should be structurally capable of not influencing the results.

Attached is my hand held simulation using Speaker box Lite

2x 2226 in 265 Litres net tuned to 40 hertz.

Have you informed your neighbours of your new project?

Hi Richard, can you please confirm this simulation with your software?

    Thank you all.
    - The cabinet is very robust, the two woofers are in two separate chambers and the wall that divides them together with the Mid-Bass box act as reinforcements. In addition there are the supports of 2445 that act as other reinforcements and two strips placed next to each woofer, in depth. The whole internal perimeter is reinforced. The final piece of furniture will consist of 25 mm interlocking panels between them milled with CNC machine.
    - I don't know if this Saturday or next I will go to a friend to test the speaker and design the crossovers. He is truly a genius in this! He built a tool that allows him to build, listening and modifying the components, a crossover, getting the flat response. I witnessed several tests and I guarantee you that the way of working with him is simply brilliant.
    - In 2012 I was in Northridge, at the 8500 Balboa Boulevard and also in the "Jammin 'Jersey Music & Pro Audio store”, It is full of audio speakers and musical instruments, very cute, good times before the Covid !!!

I'll keep you informed about everything.

Fortunately I live in a house isolated from neighbors.
Living in Italy I struggle to buy in the USA due to transport costs and import fees, even though I purchased, in the past two Mark Levinson.

Can't seem to find the 2 X 2226 in 265L/Fb40hz box at this time in the computer. Pretty sure i modeled it before, maybe didn't save it? Or have too many things in the oven.

However did find it for half the cab volume with one 2226 tuned to 40hz, should be similar shape curve, except for max SPL.

The attached graph, with the usual half-space loading and QL 7, was previously done at 300W in order to show at what point the 2226 would reach Xmax (about 30hz).

I still need two measures on the JBL 4355 cabinet:
    1) I observed that the cabinet profile is angled externally, by how many degrees?
    2) how many mm are the protection grills away from the edge of the cabinet?
    I thank you in advance

On the main page of this forum, go to the bottom of it

Section Technical Reference - Read Only

    Click on System Information

The first item is 4355 Enclosure Plans

You have two pages of very detailed plans

Maybe you can find some answers there

I made a pdf of this before but its not as clear and nice as the original posted above. Good luck.

In Italy I found only a couple of JBL 2311s, but a bad reproduction with many technical errors, too many! So I completely redesigned the horn by measuring one of a friend and relying on information found on “Lansing Heritage” and online. Now I'm waiting for them 3D printed in ABS material.
