    Lancer 99 / S99 with LE10 (???)

    Hi,

I've seen some classical Lancer speaker with LE10 instead of LE14. All of the owners said they're original. What is the truth? Could it be factory original? (I don't really think because of the bass port, but who knows...)

They look correct to me. I've seen others with the size adapters like that and the workmanship looks like JBL.
See if the dimensions match C53.

Yes, it has a very similar (although not exactly the same) dimensions: one catalog says S99 is 14 x 23.5 x 11.5 inch, other says 14 x 24 12 inch (I assume they rounded up).

It has LX4-2 crossovers (same as in the L77). The only unusual thing is that there are solder joints on the tweeter cables, which may implies that the modification wasn't made in the factory (or it was made but later)...

When I first saw it, I thought it is not original, but it is a well-made modification (except bass port, which was not retuned), but since now I know at least three pairs, I give the chance that it is a factory made modification (or all the three pairs was made by the same person...).
Two pairs were in Germany, but I have no information about the third.

I see that this is very similar to C53/S11 system, the components matches (although there is LE20-1 instead of LE20), but I don't know what is the "F2"? Although these cabinets has "Lancer 99" labels on the back...

Although they wer made for LE8, but the "speaker adapters" looks very similar to the modified Lancer 99!

I have a few LE20-1 tweeters, they all just have solder lugs instead of the spring loaded terminals, so that's normal.

I mean the cables was cutted, and re-soldered.
