    K2 9800 upgrade to K2 9800 Special Edition

Good morning guys are here to ask for help in this new adventure of mine. As you know, I'm renovating a pair of jbl k2 9800s, it's time to upgrade the crossover filter, especially to eliminate china's ignoble electrolyte capacitors.

I'm going to add some pictures taken to the filter of my 9800.

Ho notato che la versione pił performante 9800 SE utilizza pił o meno lo stesso schema crossover crossover come possiamo vedere da queste immagini:

Only capacitors change that instead of electrolytes we find solen mkp, some bypasses are eliminated, some capacitor changes slightly value and an inductance loses 0.1mH. Do you have any photos of the filter of the 9800SE version? Thank you and sorry for the double post

Just a heads up this came up with Greg when there were electrolytic's used in Everest and he was pretty adamant that they were fine there and changing them out wouldn't make things better. I would think twice before you do potentially lots of money and time for little return.

Possibly they were just marketing hype... I don't know, but that wouldn't surprise me. Then again the differences between the DD66000 and the DD67000 were substantial, so you have to look at these things on a case by case basis. I wouldn't assume just because something was newer or even more expensive that it was an upgrade.

The SE version had Solen MKP capacitors in place of Chinese electrolytes, the same filter scheme so in my opinion it would play better.... the Solens have always been used later by Greg on all the crates including everest, I do not intend to upset the project but only update it by copying the SE version.

Maybe consider all active and You get real upgade.

Plus simple Dirac for room correction, and You hear what Your excellent transducers (1500AL + 435Be) are able to.

would definitely be the best solution....
