I'm finished for now. Using a sold state amp for the low end and a tube amp for the horns. Does anyone know what these things cost when new? 1audiohack, I tried to PM you but it didn't work or I don't know how. Gary

Man those look great! Do you like them or too early to really tell?
I didn’t see a PM from you. My box was full recently and I fixed it.
I have never bi-amped mine. I should give it a go.
I don’t know what they cost new. We should attempt to find out.
Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.
They look great!!
In the 1986 price list $1797 each $450 for the crossover plus 2 cards $50-60. Have to drop this into the Library Annex

Thanks, I have owned them for about 4 years now so I know how they sound. What I like most about them is how they sound left to right or stereo or imaging I think. Also they sound BIG! I bet they cost $3-4K back in the day 1981 ?
I'm using the switch on the passive crossover. Switch it to biamp, so the EQ for the horns is sill in. Plug and play.
Yes, I do have a active xover in there. It's a DBX 223 18 db/oct. Sometimes I run them passive xover to, sounds good both ways.
They look really nice!
Not at all trying to be rude, but if it were me, I'd be getting myself a nice little Rack to place in between those Speakers, and get those Amps off the top of them.
I see the two Basses in the corner, looks like one is a 4001 Rick. I once had a mint V63 Chris Squire Limited Edition in its signature Case. I should've never sold that one.
markd51, I think the Rick is a 4003, I think? when the C.S, V63 was for sale I wanted one. Color was a cream color. As for amp on top of the speakers, I just think it looks cool.
forgive me here, I can't seem to find where it states what the horn driver is?
Beautiful looking speakers from here!

Both 4001-4003 looked very similar. Hard for me to tell this end from a mere pic.
The CS Bass was a Canary Yellow, Vermillion Fretboard and Headstock Wings. Had a clear Lexan Pickguard back-sprayed with white paint, with the Signature. Honestly, it did not sound as good, or as solid as a regular 4001 I found, it sounded thin, like a Piano.
Yeah, Amps on top might look cool, but you're not doing either Amps, or Speakers any favors IMO.
Modern decor, you need a nice modern Rack. I'd suggest one rack space wide.
These are real nice, thanks for sharing.
