Hi,
For a 110 voltage 6290 power amp, what VA of step up transformer I should have in order to use this amp in 220 V countries?
Thx!

Hi,
re-wiring the primary windings is the most elegant way, of course. Maybe your device has even got a voltage selector switch?
Just to answer your question in general: A 2:1 stepdown autoformer needs to be half the load's VA rating, as it's core »sees« half the secondary power. This also applies for a 1:2 stepup autoformer.
In contrary to that, an isolation transformer with two galvanically isolated windings needs to be capable of the full load VA's.
Best regards!
Kay,
That's very kind of you for this informative reply......
Cheers.
You're welcome !
Anyway, be careful. The nominal VA rating of a specific autoformer as written on the product or in it's description might as well be the actual maximum secondary load. I've just been speaking of the physics behind that.
Best regards!
