    JBL L300/Summit- LE85 8 or 16 ohm driver??

I am getting conflicting info on what version LE85 driver was used in the L300. I see pics of some L300's that show 8 ohm and others 16 ohm LE 85 drivers. I do not see JBL listing the impedance of the LE85 anywhere in the spec sheets. The L300 uses a 16 ohm L-PAD on that driver that I do know. I was going on the fact that the 4333 used the 2420 that was only available in a 16 ohm version and that the dividing network was the same in both the L300 and 4333. Its been a long time so i have to assume pics on line may be builds, swapped out components etc.. I would so appreciate help on determining the correct impedance LE85 driver that was JBL spec the L300 speaker.

    Thanks,

    mk

This is a JBL legacy weirdness. All JBL LE85s are 16 ohm drivers if they still have their original diaphragms... do not believe the printed foilcal. JBL started labeling a number of their legacy 16 ohm drivers 8 ohms in the 70s. All 2420s are also 16 ohm drivers and are identical to the LE85.

It is only the 2421 that was offered in an A and B version, and then later the 2425/2426 drivers there were also offered in both impedances. At this point, JBL went from their earlier A,B,C impedance nomenclature to H,J,F. They eventually even reversed their backwards from the industry standard phase convention, but that's another story.

THANKS for the info... now i can sleep at night! And if I recall correctly the 2405 HF drivers had some inconsistent 8 ohm and 16 ohm impedance labeling. I am pretty certain it was only available as a 16 ohm driver only but the foilcal stated 8 ohm on many units.
I also had an issue with the 4355's active crossover cards slope spec (290hz) I see info in the literature that it was 12 db/octave and 18 db/octave depending on what literature/specs you read. Whats your spin on this?

(For sake of clarity - I think it's understood here as you mentioned "labeling" - but the 16 ohm LE85 was spec'd to read DCR between 5.9 and 7.0 ohms, FWIW.)
    Currently: L300, C40 Harkness (030 Load), 4301B

    YES, labeling.
