    L 91 lenes

Have a pair of L200 studio masters. Did the lenes come velcro or screwed onto the baffle? Thank you..

I believe all L200s used the Velcro version of the L91.

Thanks for reply Widget. There are slots or screw slots built into the lens itself and my L200's have very small holes on the baffle roughly where the screw slots line up on the lens. The Velcro is quite loose on my lenses. Might need replacing maybe?

Here are pics from the web of the older screw mount type L91s and a photo with the red back ground of the newer version that used Velcro. The particular pair of L91s shown against the red background are actually the JBL Pro version with a Pro Series Foilcal, but they are identical in every way to the L91 except for the Foilcal (label) I believe all L200s used the Velcro style L91.

With may years owning JBL's and having owned 6 pairs of the first series L200's and 1 pair with 3 digit serial numbers from late 1971. All have had the velcro attachment. The older screw type version came into production around 1962 and was used in various models like the Olympus, Sovereign, Apollo and the D50SM. It appeared that the screw down version changed out to the velcro when the L200 came out in 1971. Still have 1 pair

    My L200s have the plastic/velcro.

    My D50SMs had the wood/screws.

Have had this happen twice. First time made a hole in the foam on one, requiring replacement (all three got new foams). Second time made some dents in the woofer cone.
