    JBL based frankenwoofer

I know that 2234 recone kit could be fitted in E 130-140 basket. But, could it be fitted in 2227 basket. I am thinking to end up with LE15-ish woofer which has thicker pole plate(no, it would not be easier to simply buy LE15 ) I am counting on stronger magnet field in E130 and 2227 because I belive that would help speaker performance up to 1 kHz where I would cross it to 2344a/2426...

EDIT: Or LE 15 recone kit in 2227 basket....

Why not go for ME150HS instead? They will fit 2227

Yes but, ME 150 recone kits are not avilable.

Where I live it is easier to get E130 or E140 baskets, 2227, ME 150 are very rare, more non existent...

Let say one find somewhere 2227 baskets for recone, could "recone" kit be made from 2234 membrane and 2227 voice coil? What spider wolud be adequate?

Somewhere on this site I have found thread in which is stated that E130/140 has "fatter" plate which make magnetic gap E1307140 1/8" deeper than 2226 and similar.

So, I am thinking; could this recone kit (LE 15) be put in E130/140 basket?

You have misread + mis-interprested something you read.

The "E" series woofers have the same thickness top-plate as a 2225/2235 ( so the depth of the VoiceCoil Gap is the same ) .

What the E130 & E140 have is a larger magnet ( 1/8" taller ) resulting in a slightly higher BL figure.

Oh, yes. I have miss interpreted. So for E 130/140 could go 2234 recone kit for what I want +/- .

    Thank You Earl K
