    708G-1 Correct Foam?

I've got three to play with, all have torn rubber surrounds with a very narrow outer lip, all of the ebay foams are 8" "one size fits all" except one from The Netherlands that looks like a winner...but it's in The Netherlands. Is there a stateside source for the correct surrounds?

Thinking of how I'd do the refoam gives me a headache, inside/under first would have to be spot-on or the little lip wouldn't marry up squarely. Outer lip first and then try to flip the foam under the cone without damage sounds fun as well.

    Any wisdom?

    Thanks,

They're going into Decade 16 boxes with 035tia tweeters and an undetermined crossover. I hate to throw out good furniture.

I looked at the auctions, $30.00 with shipping seems very reasonable for the right parts, so just get them. And let us know how they fit.

    Edit:

Did you look for butyl surrounds? Foam may very well be the only choice but they're not what they came with, of course.

Vested interest since I have two pairs of L7s, two pairs of L5s, and one pair of L3s. That's ten 708G-1s, none of which have failed yet!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

    that's how I did it on LE-14-H1's
So we cheated and we lied and we tested,
and we never failed to fail, it was the easiest thing to do

I could only find foam, no rubber.

M L1's have been with me almost forever, and there they'll stay. Last speaker standing.
