    Who Knows about Heathkit/Altec 401-17 Woofers

    For Vintage Heathkit Altec Experts.
    Trying to understand why people are bidding like crazy to buy
    These Altec Legato 401-17 Woofers.
    A pair recently had 45 bidders on eBay and Sold for a whopping $1230..???

    Does someone here know about these speakers intimately and why so desirable now?
    Are they very good in the Mid Bass department?
    Phenolic/Aluminum/Copper Diaphragms?
    Made by Altec or Western Electric?
