    4344 Clon.

    Hallo

after i have been looking on a lot of the threads in this great forum, i have decided to start my own projekt.

So i am searching for some help with a build i am about to start, so i hope you will look at my post and give me some advice, along the way.

so to start from the beginning, I am beginning to plan building a set of JBL 4344 Clon.
I have been searching the forum and found the cabinet drawings for the 4344 and a list for all the drivers. (think it is ayaboh who has made them thanks to ayaboh for the drawings.)

The only thing I need is the plan for the crossover, so if anyone has them please link them to me.

The drivers I will use for this build is:

    Ultra high JBL 2405H
    Horn JBL H91
    high JBL 2425 J
    Midrange JBL 2123H
    Bass JBL 2235H

I have been searching for a while for the drivers but I can see, that it will take a long time to get all the right drivers for this build, probably some years because I live in Denmark, and the price on the JBL 2235H is sky-high in this region, around 660 euro for two.
So I am wondering if I can start using the 2225H with this build? (I can get two 2225H for around 250 euro)

my idea was, to get my hands on the 2225H, and the 2425 J with some kind of horn, and use it in the 4344 enclosure to begin with.
and then later on find the 2123H ,2405H and recone the 2225H to the 2235H (if it is possible)

so i will do this build in 3 steps to get it going.

    Step 1: 2225h + 2425J in the 4344 enclosure
    step 2: 2225H + 2425J + 2123H in the 4344 enclosure
    Step 3: (Recone 2225H to 2235H) 2235H + 2123H + 2425J + 2405H in the 4344 enclosure

what are your thought on this?

Will the 2225H work in the 4344 enclosure with only the 2425J for a start?

i hope you will take the time to comment on my thoughts, and come with some suggestions.

The 2225H will work, however you will need to change the cabinet tuning (the ports) and tweak the crossover as the 2225H is more sensitive. Also, be prepared to have very little bass below 40Hz.

As an alternative there is a diy design here.
The concept is similar by a reputable designer.
It uses an 18 inch woofer. Still overall a costly project but the drivers are accessible.

    Hallo

    Thanks for the replays:

Mr. Widget# ok now i know what it will take to use the JBL 2225H in the 4344 enclosure.

Ian Mackenzie# I have been looking at what Troels has made, and i am sure it sound wonderful, he is normally making some really good sounding speakers.
But i have been looking into building some kind of JBL for a long time now (over a couples of years actually) so my mind is set for building the 4344.

If i am lucky i have already found two 2225H to a good price lokal.

    Hallo all

i have been researching some more, and found out that as for the high driver were i was thinking of using a JBL 2425J there maybe is more possibilities!!

After what i can read on this forum 2425J and 2426J is the same? the 2425J is just the old production, but they should be similar in terms os speck, is that right?

Then i have been looking into what drivers was used in the 4344 mk II and can see they use a JBL 275N.

atm i can get a pair of JBL 276N for a good price, but i can't find any data on them anywhere, i witch JBL speakers they are used.

    so my questions is:

Are the JBL 276N the same as the JBL 275N?

    and

Are the 2425J the same as the 2426J?

    Read the above link

The 2425J is technically identical except it does not have removable snout.

The 275nd was a specific driver for a series of Jbl consumer loudspeakers in the 1990’s.

It had a neo magnetic and a lighter titanium diaphragm dusted with acquplas. NLA.

The 276nd is a pro driver with a snout for screw on waveguides.

    Use the 2425J.

    Hallo Mackenzie

i have follow all the advices i got in this forum and has found a pair of 2425J, i was also locky to get a pair of 2123H in very good condition and a pair of 075 from the same person.

So now my driver list look like this.

    Ultra high JBL 075
    high JBL 2425 J
    Midrange JBL 2123H
    Bass JBL 2235H

Now i need to find the crosower, or build them myself!

As i understand the 4344 and the 4345 use the same crosower?

    They are.

However the newer 2123 requires a modification to mid filter.
    Search for Jbl 4344mk11 schematic.

    Hallo

Ian Mackenzie# first of all thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

what about the bass? I can see that the 4344 MKII use an ME150H bass, when i use a JBL 2235H, will that bring any trouble?
