    Garage findwd

I’ve had this speaker in my garage for maybe 30 years. Finally got around to looking at it. Looks like an early 40’s Lansing/Altec Iconic. It has a vented pole woofer, 801b high, and looks like the field coils are wired in series. It is missing the rectifier tube, and the capacitor should be check or replaced, but I have no doubt it will operate as it should. It has a brown zipcord wire, with a Bakelite plug on the power supply. I have not pulled the back off to look at the woofer numbers or check impedance, but you can see through the grill that the insulation is complete and undamaged. It also has every correct unmolested screw and nut.
The provenance that I have was that this is from RCA studio 8h (now NBC studio where SNL is filmed). There is a stamp “TVII” on the back of the enclosure.

    Pretty neat find!

    Cool!

    Thanks for sharing and welcome.
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
