Does the caps' brand really matter? For crossover networks I prefer proven industry standard MKP's for smaller capacitances and motor capacitors for larger values. I doubt that these capacitors can be discerned from Solen's and the like in double blind tests.

    Best regards!

Unlike Kay I don't like mixing types/brands of caps, the original XOs are made with only one brand/type (and if not that means the very specs of each cap type has been taken into account, even more complicated to upgrade without messing the sound) so I'm more comfortable when they are of the same brand and series. Each time I've used mixed techs (like PIO, films...) it went out of balance. YMMV.
But, like Kay, I'm very happy with industrial names, on my 4406 I've used cheap Arcotronics MKP bypassed with polystyrene caps. http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...l=1#post395093 What can I say beside I wish I hadn't sold them...
On my beloved 4313Ti I've used my fav industrial one, Icel MKP PHC series, polystyrene bypassed again. http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...l=1#post392290 I used them in many speakers, like the delicate B&W DM4 and never looked back. But as one can see I've used them charge coupled, which, in short, holds the cap tight, but some well built caps are said to be nice sounding as their construction got them tightly rolled in a tube, in a way the same as charge coupled. So if you don't go charge coupled, which seems the case, I would recommend well built MKP, like:
Cheap: Icel PHC (if you can find them) bypassed with nicely built K71-4 Polystyrene:

    or:

    http://www.jantzen-audio.com/superior-z-cap/
and test/keep the bypass if sound suits you (remember that's a JBL practice )
Money in Mundorf Sliver-Oil is overkill on L100 IMHO.

    And for what it's worth:

Erm, my motor capacitors are MKP's !

Frankly, I buy most of my components from surplus when they are cheap .

    Best regards!

you do realize that this is all that's involved

there isn't even a xover between the LF & MF .... LF just runs full range.

And that's why I've said brand and series; an industrial Wima MKP4 is not built the same as Wima MKP10 nor FKP10 all being PP caps, like many MKP-in-oil (not the same beast at all) used as... motor caps

As Wima is the leading German capacitor manufacturer, the difference between it's lines are well known to me .
