    E-140 vs. K-140

    Hi,

currently there is offered a pair of K-140 speakers here in Germanistan 'for reconing', i.e. empty baskets, for little money. Sadly, recone kits for the K-140 appear to be amost unobtainable. Otoh, I could buy E-140 kits at reasonable invest. What are the differences, if any?

    TIA and best regards !

Edit: Simplyspeakers offer the same kit for both speakers ...

... - this list (available from JBL) says the cone kit C8RE140 goes into the frames E140-8 and K140 as well.

Well, is it then right to assume that the K-140's power rating increases if I fit this universal E-140/K-140 kit into it's empty basket?

    Best regards!

Yup. Extended high power use will harm the alnico magnet though. Wouldn't worry about that because you will be stone deaf by then.
