    Open voice coil

    Hi,

not really a JBL item, I know, but of Italian manufacturer RCF instead. I've found this compression driver in a German Leslie wannabe from Echolette:

It has a 52 mm phenolic diaphragm and an open voice coil. Here's the issue:

What could have been the cause for a damage of this kind? The magnet assembluy doesn' appear to have moved. The coil gap ist still annular.

And ist there any chance to get a replacement?

    Best fegards!

Have you tried to contact RCF in Italy? They may offer replacement parts or even a repair service.

That is an odd failure. No sign of wear or burning.
