    Possible to fix D2 driver?

I have a D2 driver that have one broken diaphragm. Is it really impossible to replace diaphragm?

If you look in here it seems like there is a replacement not sure about the driver as it appears as both D2 and 2430?? Are they the same??

It all depends. There are TWO D2 drivers both with the name D2430K. One is for the M2 and the other is for commercial use. They have different order codes (part numbers). The commercial one, as used in the VTX line does have a diaphragm as a part. The D2 as used in the M2 does not. My suspicion is that the M2 version is held to a tighter tolerance to ensure maximum imaging and, as such could never be held to such a level with random diaphragms supplied and then installed. In the current release, the M2's version will have a gold label on the back, the commercial version will have a silver/grey label on the back.

The only approved repair for an M2 is driver replacement (and, it should be noted, the M2's driver is priced notably LESS as a repair part than the commercial driver as a component/repair part).

Not so sure about the VTX/M2 difference.
Mine are marked as "M2 D2430K" and have the correct part number, but have the silver label.
I also got 3 used VTX D2 from ebay a long time ago, and they were all very well matched in their frequency response.

    D2 for M2 driver

This is what the current version (as supplied in 2018) of the D2 for the M2 looks like.

I didn't mean to imply that the commercial version is of poor quality...just that whatever they are looking for on the M2 version, they are VERY well matched. I have five of them and paired each with each other and the imaging is so tight you can't tell which pair is playing with each other.

But how do one open this driver?? The problem is one broken terminal.

My guess M2 vs VTX is that they are identical but different part no and price since one is for PA and one hifi. Jbl have done the same many times before i.e. 2440 vs 375.

What's under the label?? Remember how the 2402/2404/2405's were serviced.

Have you tried to order the part? The part number is in the VTX partslist

The price I've found is almost the same for a single diphramn as a brand new driver

MSRP on the driver is almost 2K Yikes! That is expensive compared to a conventional driver.

Is there any difference between the d2430k/h. Other than impedance?

I can confirm that the price for me to order the diaphragm as a part for the "pro" version of the driver is about $10US different than the M2 version of the driver as a service part. My guess is that was the idea since they declare that the M2 version is not serviceable. The pro version of the driver is significantly more expensive.

On a side note, it appears JBL dropped the price on the Pro version a bit (seems to be about half what it was...still more than the M2 version).
