    Le10-113

I've picked up a set of LE10-113s and was wondering if anyone has some information on what the specs are for this driver. I've found information for the LE10 "A" and "H" models but no mention of this particular model.

The speakers appear to be an early model, black cone with what looks like black Aquaplas on the back of the cone. Original yellow Lansaloy surround that is getting brittle and cracking (new surrounds coming). No markings on the back except "LE10-113" printed in white letters on the back of the cone.

I have no way of determining what the specs are myself so am not sure which set of specs "A", "H" or ? to use. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Jim

If an early model, it will have the AlniCo magnets, and would therefore be an "A" model I think. The later Ceramic types were designated "H" type. I don't know if specs are different, or what they are.. It is curious why no back label on the magnet??? Torn off or never there? What did you have to pay to get those?

    Rolf,

They look to be Alnico drivers and they look to me to be an older model? I'll post a few pictures for reference.

The only other marking an inspection number.

Paid $40.00 for the pair. I'll have that plus the cost of surrounds in them so they weren't overly expensive. They don't look to have ever had a label on the back of the magnets.

Anyone have an idea? Knockoffs, early prototype?
    Thanks Rolf.

Regular LE-10As, nice but not really rare. A steal at that price.

Those don't have any Lanaplas/Agauplas on the cone backs. Look more like 2121's. I wonder if they were speacial use or if there was an LE-10A early variant without the added mass and stiffness??

I think they might have been in a speaker syst. so no finish on them.

Just a wild guess? Sometimes they made speakers just for installation in their boxes for consumers and did'nt bother to paint or label some units, maybe? I have some raw looking 10" alnico woofs from various speaker systems, but they all had a tag showing the model.. RE I have some generic 10" surrounds you coud get from me for $10/pair if you want to put them in yourself, but I don't know if the LE10A's are special from the other 10" JBL's I have successfully done already I Have a pair of LE10H's with ceramic mags and they have plain black paper cones...RE

The white aquaplas is on the back of the LE10H and LE111H cone instead of on the front like the later LE10A (starting around '64 or '65) and LE10H-1.

I suspect these are very early LE10's. Is the cone material thick or thin Jim?

    Giskard,

Not much reference for me to work with. The cone material feels thin and somewhat pliable more so than a set of 123A's I have. The surface of the front of the cone has a small crosshatch pattern in the paper while the back of the cone has a stipple as if sprayed with something. You can see the stipple on the picture that has the LE10-113 marking on it. Not a very heavy coating but enough to cover the texture of the paper so its not visible.

Transducergeek I already received a set of surrounds but thank you for the offer.
