    JBL4502 pair

    Good evening from Belgium,

through my great-aunt I have a pair of JBL studio monitors in enclosure type 4502.
    In attachment a few pictures.

I am trying to determine which type it is exactly. Can you help me out?

    Grtz

Hello, and welcome to Lansing Heritage. Your speakers are enclosed in JBL's 4502 enclosure. The model was called 4320's. Here is the link
    http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/4320.pdf
Your speakers have the crossover changed to the LX5 or 500 hz crossover point standard was a 3110 or 800 hz crossover. With that take off the lens and post a picture it could be hiding a 2311/2440 driver combination. If the horn is only 4". If deeper 2307/2420's. I have 3 of them waiting for me to put the components back in them. Mine are 3way versions with 2405 and 3106 crossovers Hope this helps

    Hi JBL4ever,

thanks for your feedback. Is it difficult to take off the lens since I am not really a specialist?

what would be the value of such a set in Europe?
is it rare or not really?

final question : are there any parts missing?
Somebody told me that ‘tweeters’ are missing.

The Lens is often held in place with velcro (I don't see any added screws in place) - and should remove pretty easily.
Those speakers have the wooden square to either side of the lens that could optionally hold a bullet or slot tweeter,
and you would need to add an additional crossover un the back panel (or build one) to a make it into a 3 way system.
You can see the extra cutout in the back where the second crossover could go.

They came in the WX wood finish or Industrial (painted) finish.

Although it looks like the 4320, this looks like the slightly earlier version, the C50SM, which came with various "loads" of parts -
Look like your pair has the S7 load of Woofer, horn and horn driver and LX5 crossover.

I do think they marked the enclosure in all their earlier built-to-order models -

I don't have images of the backs of the slightly later model 4320s I bought (used) in Feb 2006 ...
but @BMWCCA has the cabinets now (in storage I believe) ...

4320s is just plural form of 4320 (I just meant more than one).

    I "think" yours are C50SM -
My 4320 did not have that long rectangular notch on the back which, I think,
was meant for installing the Energizer module - an optional amplifier that could be installed right in the speaker for certain older models.
(kind of like some powered subwoofers).

I have never seen an energizer personally, but the manual for them is here -
    http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/Vin...00S_SE408S.pdf -

Remember, those went to another member in Fredericksburg and I think have been repopulated and restored.
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

I have no experience with value of these models but I believe it would be a good idea to not play these speakers until the woofer suspension (white ring on the edge of the woofers) is replaced. Those are likely in need of replacement, and damage could be done to otherwise very clean looking woofers. If you don't plan to keep them, let the next owner have them replaced. Others may know better than me.

Values in DC/NoVA would be much different than Belgium/Euro values -
most big JBLs are rarer overseas -
