Recorded August 3 1971 at Decca Studio Paris. Jo Jones dr.
What effective combination: Slam Stewart's simultaneously bowed contrabass while singing the same melody in the superior octave. Listen to his arrangement of the traditional "On the Loch Lomond" B3. Striking.

Is this »On the Loch Lomond« the same tune that Martha Tilton sang at Benny Goodman's Famous Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert on January 16, 1938, named just »Loch Lomond« on the related double album?

    Best regards!

Bingo! It's the same lovely Scottish traditional. And it's not a big surprise: this one is the (ripped off) basis of a great hit in 1991. "(Fast) Alles nur geklaut". Look at my next post here, if you please!

Ripped off by Mark Jordan/John Capek in 1986. 1991 it has become a rhythm of Rod's heart (A1). But, admitted, it was a nice rip off. Rogues...

Tiny Grimes (g), Roland Lobligeois (b), Panama Francis (dr)
Recorded at Decca Studio, Paris, May 14th 1974 by Claude Achallée
The steadiness of the tempo, the suppleness of the pulsation, the rhythmic life, the harassing swing of Panama Francis make of him one of the best drummers of all times. (Cit: notes on back cover)
