Focal Audiom 15A - Altec Lansing

    Hi all,
I've recently acquired a pair of french Audioanalyse speakers that I initially thought were loaded with Altec 515's. To my surprise the units turned out to be Focal Audiom 15A with massive multi piece magnets at the back, the outer edge with mounting holes is also narrower on the Focals.
The cone and chassis definitely look Altec Lansing inspired.

Does anybody know what the connection was between Jacques Mahul/Focal/JMLab and Altec Lansing back then? Did JMLab buy the Altec units and mod them himself or were they actually custom built by Altec to JMlab's spec? Or is it something totally different?

I would assume they are Altec inspired as opposed to an Altec collaboration. Here is a link to someone who was selling a pair and he compared them to Altec as well.

I've seen them for sale indeed but I'm mostly curious about the connection between both brands, if any.
