    Howard Durbin has passed away

It is with great sadness that we, the children of Howard M. Durbin, announce his passing away on August 10. We know he touched many lives in many ways, as evidenced by the comments in this forum, and in many other areas as well.

His funeral will be at St. James Presbyterian Church, Tarzana, CA on Saturday, August 18 at noon. Viewing will be at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on Friday, August 17 from 5-9 pm.

On my own flight out to Los Angeles on August 7 I passed through United's terminal at O'Hare and had to look up and take note of Don Keele's horns in the ceiling of the tunnel between Terminals B and C. Every time I would pass through there I would think of Don - and Dad. That day was certainly no exception.

I do intend to share a few stories here of his days as VP of Engineering and Research at JBL, such as the time he brought home a prototype of the L212 to compare with Electro-Voice speakers we had at the house.

Please do share any JBL/audio anecdotes with us that you can. We would love to hear them

    Condolences and Remembrance

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We had the privilege of hosting Howard at the first Lansing Heritage Awards in September 2012. It was a joy to talk with him and to hear his recollections.

That was a nice event. So much better to honor accomplishments and convey appreciation while the receiver has ears to listen.
    What a great legacy!

Condolences and best regards to the family.
