    Jbl 2205 2220 2231

    Dear all,

I observed the metal frame (basket) of speaker JBL 2205, 2220 and 2231 are very similar in look. They are all Alcino speakers. I search for specification in voice coil and their cone, I found there is some variations among them.

I am thinking if I can use the frame of 2205 or 2220 to recone it as 2231.
2231 seem very expensive compared to 2205 or 2220 but I am thinking if their metal frame (basket) are the same.

Anyone can give me advice on this?

    thanks.

There is a large family of compatible frames, including the 2205 and 2231. The 2220 is not one of them; it has different geometry shared only with the consumer/legacy version, the 130A.

From memory: D130, except very early, 135, 136, 2230, 2231, 2135, 2235, 2225, 2205. There is a detailed list here somewhere. Maybe someone can link it.
