Taj Mahal has composed the song " Jorge Ben" A1 in 1972. Rod Stewart has stolen it in 1978. Do you recognize his disco hit? Anybody found further rip-offs?

WHy don’t you sue Rod?
For more rip-offs, just look into Led Zeppelins lost lawsuits... ;-)
Or Coldplay. Famous for this composing technique. ;-)

"In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Coldplay front man Chris Martin has admitted to plagiarizing many, if not most, of the songs he wrote. "
From "Physical Graffiti" some more or less legal robbery: "Boogie with Stu" is definitively not a LedZeppelin-IanStewart-Mrs.Valens song as it is credited. It is definitively a Ritchie Valens song and it should definitively be called "Ooh! My Head". The credits to Mrs. Valens come from the nearly incredible sharpness of four gentle villains...

"Icarus' Dream Suite Opus 4" (B1): the heirs of Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni (1671-1751) were very proudly obliged for the generous royalities they awarded in 1984 from maestro Malmsteen for his elaborate upgrading of Albinonis "Adagio".
Joke aside, in fact there's not any faint note of credit on this album of furious etudes. Poor....
(btw Albinoni died under humble circumstances)

Ah, ah, ah. If you didn't care, you wouldn't even spend the time replying... ;-)
BTW Some people say that plagiarism/coincidences is normal and is the nature of music. After all, how many different songs can be written with 12 notes? Well, ask yourself how many original books have been written with 26 letters? ;-)
"Dazed and confused": Original by Jake Holmes 1967 on Tower Records. Led Zeppelin I in 1969: the most insolent rip off in rock history?! Look and hear this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGzrDw_sW2A
(Admittedly it's a great cover version, isn't it?)

LZ are well known for their law suits that they've lost in their career.
Best regards!
The Intro of "Dreams Of Heaven" by Progrock group "Flash" B1.
Where did "Flash" borrow the idea for that kind of noisy intro like that?
Tip: Engineer was Martin Birch

Dave Davis' 1970 "Rats" is a rip-off from Yardbirds' 1966 "Stroll on" (Blow-up) which is a rip-off from Tiny Bradshaw's 1951 "Train kept a-rollin", which is a rip-off from.....

They also ripped-off the band name "Riff Raff" as many other musicians did. Why do they? Anyway, this is magnificent melodic hard rock with leanings towards Led Zeppelin and Boston. Dog Lubahn lead vocals/bass (bassist of The Doors, Billy Squier, Monkees, Nugent), Werner Fritzsching guitars (Cactus). Listen to Mary Lou A5. Good songs. All winners, no fillers. Sleeve by Hipgnosis. Underrated.
This here is the original English Riff Raff: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...l=1#post430346

I didn't see this one in here yet: David Bowie's "Fame" v James Brown's "Hot (I need to be Loved, Loved, Loved)"
Lyrically no similarity, but the grove and multiple guitar parts are identical and apparently Bowie was flattered by the rip-off

30Hz Bass Horns/K151, Custom mid bass & midrange horns/Cogent DS 1428 & 1448 field coil drivers, Fostex T925a tweeters.
A borderline case IMHO. The funk grooves of "Fame" and "I need to be loved" both are generic for thousands of Funk/Disco-productions. Its only the guitar riff - that's the same one. Carlos Alomar! I don't think that this is a common kind of rip-off. Can you own the copyright for a guitar sequence? Das ist komplizierteres Juristen-Futter!
