    4673-clone active crossover settings

    Hello everyone,

Got my hands on cheap pairs of 2225, 2445 + 2380A and trying to build 4673 clone out of them. Im going to use miniDSP 2x4 HD for crossover and dsp duty. Unfortunetly UMIK-1 microfone is unavailable for some time even from miniDSP, heard that there is new model coming soon. So cant't do any measurements for a little while.

My question is: can anyone share their crossover and dsp settings, so i can test my system if theres need for additional tweeter, subwoofer etc.

    Thanks!

High WAF JBL-system not quite ready yet. Enclosures are diy, 4507 dimensions.

I think i have something to start with:

    600-800hz lp for 2225, 35hz +5-8db, q 0,9-1.1
2445 700-7000hz -?db to get it play a little higher and -14db(?) overall to match woofer sensitivity

Tomorrow well see will it work at all

    Hi

Do not forget to apply Hi-pass filter about 25Hz, to protect the 2225 from LF 'over-X max-excursion'

Got first notes out of it yesterday. Left me somehow speechless, some areas are quite impressive, some not. Hoping to get that UMIK-1 soon because I can't quite pinpoint those problem points. 2445J reaches suprisingly high with some eq added, and does not sound that bad in my opinion. Biggest issue is ground loop in my bass amp

Note, JBL always recommended high-passing the 4673 at 40Hz though one can put in a 6dB boost at 40Hz to extend the bass (They did this on their 5234 and subsequent 5235 electronic crossovers).

The 4673 isn't a bad little speaker and I used them by the dozens in appropriately sized cinemas. The 2380 horn is a bit rough and has no pattern control below 1000Hz. It has issues getting down to 800Hz, let alone 500Hz like we used in Cinema and often needed EQ around the crossover region to get a reasonably flat response.
