JBL le10 magnet has a textile mesh?

hello, I'm reconing my JBL le10, and all going great, except, that the magnet hole, is covered with a small "cloth mesh", that is broken.
I'm not sure what the function of this is (dust filter?), or something else.

before I finish my reconing... would like to know if I need to replace this as well, and what with? And how to even search for it?

    Welcome to Lansing Heritage!

That is indeed a small filter to keep out debris. Most here replace the damaged or missing with a small piece of speaker grill cloth.

    All the best!
    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.
