DIY Project for clone 4343: Use LE14, LE10, 2470 with horn and 2402 are possible?

    Dear all,

I got the following speakers in hand: LE14, LE10, 2470 with 2307 and 2308, 2402. I am thinking if it is possible for me to make a clone of 4343 with using diy 3143 network.

    original speaker
    Proposed speaker
    2231A LE14
    2121 LE10
    2420 2470
    2405 2402

I am hesitated on using LE14 (14") to replace 2231A (15") although they are both alnico woofer. I don't know if crossover of 3143 is suitable for LE14 also.

Can anyone give me suggestion on this? Or I should acquire 2231A or LE15 to proceed this project?

    Why not!

but will be a new version of 4343.... and I do not know if you can use the same crossovers, especially in the midrange section parameters are quite different

please check for your reference: http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/thi...parameters.pdf

    ciao

If you're going to use a 2402, you really need one of my slant plate assemblies.

Thanks...If using 2123H, could it be easily matched? I found there is another post here for making DIY 4346 which uses 2123H.

2123h is more efficient (cloth suspension) than 2121 or 2122 but could be a good substitute (most people are using 2123 because it sound good, it's reliable and easy to find).

I think you can manage somehow to use your components, Just double check the crossover especially in the midrange zone.

    Thanks Berga,

However, I have no idea on how to design crossover but can only refer to JBL's original design. For my case, I plan to change the mid-range as 2123H or LE10 and the woofer as LE14. So I believe I cannot refer to the original. Any advise on how to make the crossover?

Besides, I am thinking if I should purchase 15" woofer to make my DIY project instead of using LE14.

    Thanks for your advices.

From What I do remember, but I could be wrong
    LE14 Ok with 4343cx
LE10 NOK with 4343cx (LE10 have totally different parameter, so you'll cross somewere in another frequency region)
2470 Ok with 4343cx, should work...
    2402 ok with 4343cx

So even if Le10 for sure sound pretty good, I've doubt that could fit with original network. in any case you can try, and you'll destroy nothing! Later if you have some support from a friend you can perform measurments to check the reality.

Check the link I provided you and compare the T&S parameters.
