    JBL 435Al / 435Al-1

Does anyone know if the older version 435Al have aquaplas coating diaphragm like the later 435Al-1?
or are they only consumer version of the pro driver 2430h?

    Thanks,
    Ari

I have some 435AL drivers. I wanted to see if the diaphragms were coated, but pulling the back cap pulls the diaphragm from the motor. I didn't want to risk messing anything up so I just put it back together before seeing the back of the diaphragm.

    yes, you are right
there is risky to pull out the back cover to see the diaphragm, this is different on the 4" compression drivers were the back cover is not mounted with the diaphragm

the reason I am asking about this is at I have found pair of 4348 monitors with one broken 435Al high frequency driver, so the 4348 are sold as junk item
if there are no aquaplas coating on the diaphragm then is easy for me just to buy 2430h diaphragm and fix the driver

    Thanks!

I have read both the owners manual for S5800 and white paper for Array series and in the owners manual for S5800 they say at 435Al have aluminium diaphragm like 2430h
and in the white paper for Array series the say at 435Al-1 have aluminium diaphragm coated with aquaplas

I'm pretty sure when I bought the 435AL drivers they were listed in the 4348 replacement parts. This is when I also purchased the 1500FE drivers, they sent one 1501FE and I spent a year trying to land another. Now you can buy the 1501FE online through Reconing Speakers

I have also bought one 1500Fe as a spare parts for 4348
I have complete crossover networks and 2251j recone kits also for 4348
but I think at there is no way to buy the 435Al anymore so I am hoping at they use the same diaphragm as 2430h

I am intersting to know if you have made a speaker out of your 435Al and 1500Fe
what horn do you use for the 435Al?
and have you compare the 1500Fe to the 1501Fe?

I never got a 1500FE, they shipped me a single 1501FE instead. I've used the 435AL on several different 1.5" horns.

yes, and was that also the driver that was with broken frame after terrible packing!

    I think at 435Al are fine up to around 12 - 14kHz
    they need super tweeter
I hope at they use the same diaphragm like 2430h

I'm pretty sure that the Pro equivalent to the 435AL is actually the 2431H ( not the 2430H ) .

No, 2431h is with titanium diaphragm
    435Al, 435Al-1 and 2430h have aluminium diaphragm

The 2431H has an aluminium diaphragmn the one with a titanium diaphragm being the 2432H.
According to the EDS the 2431H is "a version of the 2430H with a narrower coil milling and flat surround for more extended HF response".

Now does that say anything about the difference between the 435AL and 435AL-1?

EDIT: grumpy's link is gold, as it even has the 2430H in there!

    Ok, then I was wrong
I have to know which one is with the same diaphragm as 435Al

I think at the difference between the 435Al and 435Al-1 is the aquaplas coating on the 435Al-1 but I am not 100% sure

No, the first one made it OK. That's why I decided to keep it instead of holding out for the 1500FEs, the subsequent 1501FE was the damaged driver.

I have a second pair of 435AL drivers, I paid $309 ea and would sell them for the same as a pair only- they are unused. Not sure what shipping would run to Iceland, but they are not very heavy.
