    Center channel crossover?

I have made up center channel speakers of vintage JBL parts of several confugurations of drivers. Current test units have two 112As and an LE-85 with a 36db/octave crossover at 800Hz. The LE-85 has the shorter of the two 1 inch horns. They work nicely but I am building three more sets and am pondering different crossovers. Perhaps 1200Hz with 12,18 or perhaps 24db/octave? Another set will have LE-111s instead of the 112As. Any thoughts, gentlemen?

Why not 1.2k with 2307 horns 12db octave. Both drivers should be able to work well with that. You using the slats plate lenses?Nothing above the LE-85??

If you mean above as in frequency I thought about using an 077. Is the 2307 the longer horn, H-92? My assumption was that the LE-15 could stretch up to meet the shorter horn/LE-85 low end but the 136A with the heavier cone/coil could not get up as high so the longer horn helped the LE-85 go lower to meet the woofers upper end. Since the two woofers I am using are eight and ten inch, upper end limits should not be a problem so the short horn and higher crossover should be fine.

I believe using the lower crossover point gives the speaker more of the "horn" quality and actually makes it sound more like the sound in a theater.

I was using the high slope crossovers to avoid overlap which may hinder dialog intelligibility which is my main consideration for this speaker.

I am using the slant plate which makes grill making hell. I thought about potato mashers but thought they might not be as good with dialog due to the scattering and multipath.

I don't know for sure but I think the longer is a 2391???

Yes that's what I was thinking too.
