    Dear all,

Hullo and welcome to my first post.

As a non JBL person, what is the difference between the above?

    Welcome.

Let me Google that for you:

". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

Thanks man, been there and Googled that, is it just me or are they all within a poofteenth of each other, spec wise?

Anyone listened to them? Is JBL aiming at different end users? I assume so but who?

I have been lucky enough to hear the S4700 but not the others.

    The 3 have different sized mid-driver diaphragm sizes ( going from 1.75", 3" & 4" ) .

One typically needs decades of experiencing these different sizes to have a 1/2 decent crack at trying to explain what someone else might or should hear ( ultimately, it's all about mid-range clarity ).

Your best bet is to educate yourself ( through listening to various 3-way speakers ) as to how size matters to your ears ( or not ) .

It doesn't matter if the mid your listening to is compression loaded or just a straight dome on a baffle ( you'll still get the same education ).

    Hi Darren69,
I would suggest 4365 (middium solution) as an optimal technology solution. I can imagine that 4inch diphragm VHF driver can handle LF section with less effort then annual rings 3inch VHF, so voices would be ^more natural reproduced^.
Unfortunately I have not any opportunity to compare them in reality.

    Regards
    Ivica

Ivica, thank you for your thoughts. There seems to be very few reviews on the higher end JBL gear, unless I am looking in the wrong places, hence I thought I might bug the brains trust here.

I live in between Sydney and Brisbane in NE New South Wales and one needs to have a rough idea of what one might like to hear before planning weekends away to audition stuff and unfortunately, that involves reading the dreaded reviews, haha.

Currently running Focal 1038Be's and they are great but have always been attracted to JBL. I listen to mainly hard rock and metal with some opccasional female vocals thrown in and the odd Alt J or Trentemoller thrown in if the mood suits. A bit of everything really, except classical and jazz. Hmm- the Daft Punk TRON soundtrack might be a goer though!

Might also check out some DIY options, thanks again mate.

The only one of the three I have spent any time with was the 4365. If you can tolerate its size and cost, I can't imagine anyone not liking it's sound.
