    878A Santiago Value

    I am considering selling my pair of 878As that have been in my family since new.
    Unfortunately, do not have room for them.
    They are in decent shape, although they do not have the original grills.
    Can anyone advise as to reasonable price point to expect? Also, where would be a good place to sell them?

    Thank you in advance,

    -Andrew

    Well, normally this would be a simple matter of looking up completed sales on ebay. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any for the Santiagos. There is a guy asking around $1700 for his pair, but I would advise him not to hold his breath in the meantime.

    You would likely get better responses by posting your question on the Altec User's Board.

    Hello Amfab;

    One of the problems you are facing is that your 878's uses the 413 LF. the 878b used the 411LF, a much improved driver. AS GDM noted, there is a "b" on ebay right now for $1799 or so and it has been there for some time. The seller is not going to get it in my opinion. (very often I'm wrong.) As to what they are really worth? I don't know.

    I know that this doesn't help much. Maybe you could start at a number and see what happens. I do know the problem of not enough room but if it were me I'd probably keep them as they were, and are a pretty durn good speaker.

    Thanks everyone, I had them in my Fathers house since college. He passed away and I don't really have room for them (I use a pair of Tannoy SRM-10Bs now). Everything I had stored at his house is piled now in my living room. Once I get a chance to clean up Ill post some pictures. I was not thinking close to $1800, not even half that.

    Thank you for the responses

    OK after sitting in my office over a year—in the way, i need to get these sold. I will sell them for $750 and include a JBL ES600 amp (190watts/side@8ohms)

    Can someone please recommend the best place to list these?

    Thanks in advance
