Judgement: Crown MacroTech MAi12000 from 2009

I need a new amplifier for my two subwoofers and have been offered a used Crown MAi12000 (http://www.crownaudio.com/en/products/ma-12000i) which meets my requirement perfectly!

It is used and from 2009 so definately not new anymore. Would you have any concerns regarding buying such an old amp? The price is really good and it doesn't look like it has been thrown around.

    Appreciate the input!

    2009 is not old

Probably a superb amp, but be prepared for fan noise!

If you like Crown amplifiers (I do ) take a look at the class D variants. Crown XLS-2502 (new) or XLS-2500 (previous model). They are not that expensive, 3 year transferable warranty and the fan on mine I never hear.

I am really interested in a Class I amp when used on subwoofers. I know the fan noise is crazy, but I am so lucky to have an equipment room for the gear.

An alternative when running 8 Ohm is CTS3000, maybe equal suited for you?

I actually had the CTS2000 which had superb woofer control. That is why I'm looking at class I. The Macrotech seems to be the best in class

But you wouldn't be afraid of amp failure with a 2009 amp? The company who sells it has seems to rent out gear which means that it has been rented out.

Discussed with Crown who would have no concerns if the amp plays and no fault lamps are lighting up - so the amp is now ordered.
