Ideal Active Crossover Points and slope for S8R soveriegn

Have a set of Sovereigns with the S8r that has the 375horn, and 075 tweeter,

any guesses on an ideal set of crossover points and slope for Triamp application?

I'll be using a Marchand XO with a Mc240 on the Horns, 225 on the Tweets, and probably a Crown or QSC on the 15"

    Thnks

For a starting point JBL used 500Hz and 7kHz in the S8R. Many would start the 075 higher.

Yes, but over the years JBL moved the recommended crossover frequency for the HL93 (2311) up to 1200Hz. That said, the LE15A is not a good candidate for a higher crossover frequency.

should I consider pulling teh LE15a and replacing with a 2311? If so - what would you do with that passive radiator?

I was also considering getting the 077 at some point (or the pro equivalent)

and putting the TAD horn you recommended on the 375 - should wake those suckers up something fierce.

I will keep all the Original stuff as they do sound really good - even as they are in that horrible box.

    Hi Mr.Widget,

I have to agree with You that for the short horn&driver combo like 244x abd 2311 horn but WITH 2308 LENSES TOO, higher crossover frequency such as 1200Hz, woul de better solution, but I can imagine that 244x&2311&2308 , for home level listening, 800Hz ( 2nd or better 3rd order HF filter) would be quite acceptable solution, as a compromise when 15inch bass driver is used such as LE15A, 2231, 2235, or 2216Nd.

    Regards
    Ivica
