Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!

Removed the "badges" on my 4310s, using reasonable heat from a heat gun and a tool made by bending the blade of a putty knife to 45 degree angle about 1" from its edge. Worked slowly under the metal, and LOTS of patience was needed. Take your time.

Then I removed the old glue with GoofOff (again, carefully so as to not damage the fronts). This allowed rolling them smooth with a small roller tool, but a clean piece of pipe or better yet the roller from a retired typewriter will do. Having the metal slightly curved helps when rolling it back in place, presuming that the previous actions were successful.

Elmers glue worked fine and was easy to clean up any oversqueeze. Once in place I held the badges down while glue cured with 1" by whatever width strips of wood. Put waxed paper between wood and metal, and used two pony clamps to hold them down.

I think there are repro labels available. If so, much time and stress can be avoided unless you are good at dealing with tedious procedures that dance closely with irrepairable damage.

If 4311 xovers are made like as in the 4310's you will need the heat gun to melt the wax that hold the caps in paper tubes. I would just bypass that and mount any components on a piece of masonite.

    Have fun !

Nice work! Grain looks good, even better than the 'burst.

Anybody have a recommendation on the baffle board paint? Krylon black satin or what? I'm use to the blue baffle boards.

No. I'm asking about this quote.

I do enjoy the 3112 over the n100, maybe look
into an updated network, try something different
since you already have a favorite. Maybe don't recreate
that, try a new sound for a specific media

Those were the reason the previous owner went black after he sanded though a couple of corners. I've billed the substrate to meet the level of the veneer and tommorow night will use dry stains to reproduce the grain and pores.

Cool... I haven't tried that before, but have considered it.
A couple of close up before, during, and after photos would be much appreciated.

    Finger licking good,

they were on a YouTube kenrick video comparison
thet also exhibited a part two which closed the gap but I guess
the brilliance was over done sounded like feedback
and some instrument vs vocal stuff played in as well
i think it's just pedigree at some point as they both played
good but that piano on the untouched networks made
    a difference

Heres tonights efforts to diminish the look of the 3 distressed corners. I'll seal all this and use dry stains to reproduce the small areas of grain muddy.

a couple of more pics before a sealer coat

Tonight I'll spray sanding sealer before I try to replicate the damaged grain in the corners and then put on topcoat.Name: IMG_7204[1].jpg
