Damping of 2360. Rock guard or underbody seal

Im picking up a pair of 2360 to play with over the christmas season. From others experience, these horns will most likely profit a lot from damping, and I am considering what method to use.

Wurth products are readily available here, and I have been looking at the Bitumen based Underbody seal and the Rock guards that is non-bitumen.
I see advantages using rock guard as it gives a paintable surface, but my gut feeling tells me that I will get a thicker coat and better damping with the messy Underbody Seal

Anybody here that have used these products or similar for damping horns?

I suggest playing with the horns a bit before sticking some bitumen. The fiberglass 2360 don't ring much. Unlike, say, my other 2350. ;-)

Dynamat also make a sound deadening bitumen aimed at the car audio sector.

BTW after 3 years, I still love my 2360a. I went back to to 2350 and 2397 for the fun of testing, but returned to the 2360. I love how the sound is distributed and how its source is not pinpointable. Gonna test them soon with a 18" 2240 woofers in replacement of current 15" 2226 woofers, still in a two-way system. I may add some 2405 for UHF.

I'd like to find a set of plastic 2360b though. ;-)

Glad to hear they still make you happy. Im quite excited to try them out and I am aware of the limitations regarding HF extension and will give both 077 and 2404 a shot. I will use them undampened first to get to know them and dial the EQ needen, but I am quite certain that the flimsy glassfibre would benefit from a proper treatment.

Medium and high frequencies don't have enough energy to make these fiberglass horns vibrate. Unless perhaps you play at hyper high volume. ;-)

    Hi Lee,
Just a question about your 2360, they do not look like my 2360, do you know why this difference??
    Year's production or what??

Well. They look very much like my 2360a

The 2360b is slightly different as it is made out of plastic and they sre two-piece so that it is cheaper to ship.

The plastic 2360b is much rarer than the fiberglass 2360a. Good luck in your search.
