JBL 2204 with trashed cone.

I just trashed the cone of my JBL 2204H. Used to be you could find these fairly quickly for less than $100 but I guess those days are gone. So I'm thinking about getting a reconing kit.

-Original JBL - I've looked for original JBL reconing kits online and found 2 kits; both new old stock. One guys wants $249 and the other guys wants $70 which is reasonable but because the kit is 20 years old it is being sold "as is'. So if I buy it and someone sat on the cone 10 year ago too bad for me. I asked if he could look in the box to make sure everything was in good shape he said 'No'.

-After market reconing kits. I know on some speakers these can be really out of spec but is there a brand someone can recommend? The 2204 are electronically crossed if that makes any difference.

I'm open to other recommendation but really need to keep the cost down.

The 2206 is a direct replacement for the 2204. Just bought two to replace 2214s. 300 bucks delivered, brand new in the box.

Member GordonW is in your area and, based on my experience, does fine work at reasonable prices. I would suggest you start there.

I've tried contacting Gordon many times on Audio Karma. I've gone down to his shop, left messages on his business phone all to no avail. Last time he posted here was 2015.

I ended up getting a genuine JBL BNOS cone repair kit. There is a tube of adhesive in the box thats got to be 20 years old. Should I use it or get something else?
