    Identify these horns?

Can someone please tell me what these horns were used in?

They have a relief for a 12" driver on one edge and two port tubes attached.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Don M

Same as 2344A on the front.
I would like to build these as surrounds for my HT,and need to figure the box and LF driver out.

Your info led me here; http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/4825.pdf
I think this is what they came from as they have 2425J drivers attached. I got them from the Ebay auction mentioned in your link.
I will go with the 2206 but I don't know about using the 16 ohm HF. I had rationalized that I would just buy 8 ohm diaphrams, as my knowledge falls way short of designing a 8/16 crossover. Any ideas? I don't want to Bi-amp my sides.

    Thanks again.

There may have been a version of that make with a crossover in it, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Typically, a suitable JBL crossover will have a 16-ohm HF, though the 4430/35 were 8-ohm.

Check out the "Quick and Dirty 4430" thread. We're working with the older 16-Ohm crossovers there, and Giskard is just now posting curves. Making those 2344A horns play nice requires CD compensation and HF boost in the crossover. Using 2206H as LF, 3120A might be a good choice for crossover assuming 2206 is good up to 1200 Hz, but the data is not all in yet.

We're gonna have to dig deeper to see what JBL recommended using with that driver combination. Perhaps there's a Concert Series manual which will have that information. JBLdog who's actually using them may also have some specific crossover recommendations....

Edit: Here's the passive crossover version, 1200 Hz as supposed:

Yeah, just get the 8 ohm diaphragms and start with the 4435 network. Adjust the low pass as desired/required.

    Huh? Just now?
I've posted exhaustively on the 4430/4435 (curves included).

Curves on them older 16-Ohm HF boost topologies, i.e., 31xx, etc.

Oh! Yeah! You guys have alot of those LE85/2420/2421B/2425J drivers laying about that need using?

I have to say that I have often thought about converting my 4430's into 4825's to save space.

Yeah, a primary objective is to convert L200 and/or L200B into "Quasi" 4430, which means work with the LE85's that come with.

We have some 4430 crossovers, but perceive it'd be cheating (and somewhat inelegant) to just rip everything out and put in stock 4430 replacements. And buying or building N3134 is not a viable option for most folks. 2344A horns may not be, either.

The other primary objective is to "sweeten" 4430 with newer driver and horn technologies, if possible. In the course of doing that, we may come up with some even more feasible options for L200/B.

Hmmmm. That's why it's only spec'd to 16 kHz, apparently. No HF boost, per se....
